Show Theme: Emergence

The MiddleGray Gallery/Café is proud to open its first call for entry to local emerging artists. We would like to celebrate your up-and-coming career and invite you to unite forces as we open our doors to the public for the first time.

Emergence is about new beginnings, stepping into the light, first appearances, being born, blooming, becoming, materializing, arriving, etc. Any literal and figurative interpretations are welcome; the point is to showcase fresh and exciting new work.

Submissions Deadline

May 17, 2015 at midnight.

Show Dates

From mid June 2015 until August 28, 2015 (Start and opening date TBD due to café’s opening planning)

Eligibility

This call for entries is open to emerging artists living in New England submitting original works of art created within the timeframe of 2012 - 2015. Professionals and students in ALL disciplines are encouraged to submit.

Artwork and Media

Open to any media that can be hung on a wall! Artworks must be no bigger than 13x19” (including frame) and have a value of no more than $500. If selected, artwork must be framed and ready for hanging. If selected, artwork must be delivered and picked up in person (no exceptions.)

Entry Fee

There is no entry fee.

-       Up to 5 original works for consideration.

o   Format: JPEG/JPG/PNG image size must be at least 1200 px wide, 300 ppi, and should be named as such: Artists Name_Artwork Title_Dimensions.jpg (John Smith_Artwork1_11x17.jpg) 

*Please keep in mind these images will be used in the gallery’s catalog if selected.

The Middle Gray is looking for artists who are interested in being part of our community, and who are willing to be present in our show openings and special events. We expect our showing artists to be as excited as we are about sharing their work with the public, and want to promote the shows by inviting friends and family to attend.

Thank you for considering The Middle Gray as a platform to showcase your work. We are looking forward to reviewing it and learning about you.

By submitting this work you agree to the above and below terms and conditions and attest to the authenticity and full ownership of the work. You also give The MiddleGray Gallery/Café the right to showcase this work on its site and in its gallery. The MiddleGray Gallery/Café reserves the right to not display any submitted work for any reason.

Terms and Conditions

Selected artists must be willing to be filmed and/or photographed for gallery promotional purposes. Selected artists must be willing to have their artwork filmed and/or photographed for gallery promotional purposes. Images and information submitted by selected artists will be used in MiddleGray Magazine as promotional material for The Middle Gray Gallery/Café.

There is no fee for the submission of artwork. Submitting artwork does not guarantee selection for exhibition. Exhibitions that receive a high volume of submissions may be limited by space restrictions. Entries must be submitted online. Submissions must be received by midnight on the date of the deadline. Selected artists will be notified within ten days following the submission deadline. Only “2D” art submissions will be considered. Please fill out all the submission guidelines. Artists submitting multiple works or series should be aware that not all pieces might ultimately be selected. Specific groupings of work and final arrangement of the exhibition will be left to the discretion of the curatorial staff. Entries must be related to the exhibit theme. Unrelated works will not be considered.

Accepted artwork must be delivered by hand to The MiddleGray Gallery/Café by the stated deadline to be included in the show. Accepted artists will be notified of the specific dates and deadlines for their specific show when they receive their acceptance notification. This notification will also include a copy of the Group Exhibitions Contract. If accepted into the exhibition, artists will be expected to provide a signed copy of a Group Exhibitions Contract.

All unsold artwork must be retrieved within one week following the exhibition closing. The MiddleGray Gallery/Café will not ship/deliver any artwork. The MiddleGray Gallery/Café makes a concerted attempt to aid the prompt pickup and retrieval of hosted artwork. However, particularly in the case of negligent or absent artists, The MiddleGray Gallery/Café cannot be held responsible for the security of abandoned work. Artwork left un-retrieved after 1 week will be considered abandoned and become property of The MiddleGray Gallery/Café, and sold or disposed of at MiddleGray Gallery/Café 's discretion. 

Postcards for the exhibition will be made available to artists in digital format. Only select exhibitions will have printed postcards when supplemental funding is available. Show sales will be divided as such: 30% The MiddleGray Gallery/Café, 70% Artist Compensation.
